Thank you for discussing this - I find myself hesitant to talk about it even with people who I know would be sympathetic. For anyone who may be wary of the gift: when I pray in tongues, the Spirit always leads me back to awe at the love and strength and goodness of God in Jesus, and also helps me experience that I belong to and am loved by the Father - that these things are realities and not just ideas. It can be like a reset button for my thoughts, emotions and even my body that aligns me with God. I'm more able to care for others. There have absolutely been misunderstandings that everyone has to have it or they're not a real Christian, misuses of it in church contexts, and I know there have been famous figures who publicly use it whose lives are not a good witness overall. I guess it can be like any prayer done to show off - no benefit to us or our 'audience' and God is not impressed! Really sad since as Richard said in the video it's meant to be between us and God! But I'm so grateful for this gift - I received it almost 15 years ago after a long stretch when I desperately needed God's care as an experiential reality, months after being prayed for about it. I was home alone (no peer pressure to fake it or anything) and had been praying - suddenly the question "Do you trust me?" When I said yes, that was it! It was very intense, involuntary and "other" at first. All this helps me be sure I wasn't making it up! I can do it by choice now but it also bubbles up spontaneously a fair bit - including when I'm very distressed/sad or unsure what to pray, or amazed by God. I truly do feel for this dear man. a father of the faith, indeed. as in the reformation of the middle ages, some were unable to see with clarity the true gospel of jesus christ.. what did the father come to accomplish through the son? The apostle paul said... "AS IT WAS through ONE OFFENSE for ALL mankind for condemnation, THUS ALSO it is through ONE JUST AWARD for ALL mankind for life's justifying. FOR EVEN AS through the disobedience of THE ONE man, the many were CONSTITUTED sinners, THUS ALSO, through the obedience of THE ONE, the many shall be CONSTITUTED just". -- Romans 5:18,19 Such good good good good news!!! jesus is truly savior, redeemer, and LORD OF ALL.. just like the Bible says! (Acts 10:36)

Thank you for this video, particularly the description of God our Father as a refuge and Jesus gentle and lowly. I can't seem to fully shake the perception of God as demanding, exacting and liable to yell at, abandon or reject me, but referring to the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit feels less abstract and makes me think, hang on, is that really how he/they show themselves to be? I wish I could come to the Zoom meetings but the time difference isn't feasible for me. -Sarah

Can I say, "Lord Yeshu, Son of God, have mercy on me." Is that fine ? The last part "a sinner" is already implied. Can that be omitted ? My version would be - " Lord Yeshu, have mercy on me." Please let me know if this is fine. I believe he is the Son of God.
